It would be a lie to say that we aren’t constantly inspired by all forms of biking, whether it’s BMX, slopestyle, freeride, or even road. Last year, Brett Rheeder’s first Dream Capture episode, Airs and Alleys, was heavily inspired by a trip produced by BMX legend Ruben Alcantara where he placed portable ramps throughout an urban environment. This year, when we were presented with the opportunity to film with Ruben in his hometown of Malaga, Spain for Rheeder’s second Dream Capture episode, there was no chance we were turning it down.

Level 1 Productions’ 2nd annual FilmerUnknown contest proved that the talent pool of amateur filmers has never been deeper! Nearly 100 first round submissions were whittled down to ten finalists and those finalists each put together entries shot entirely on Sony’s Action Cam. CONTOUR cameras and Steve Smith bring you a course preview for the Leogang, Austria IXS Cup track. This is the same track that will be used in September for World Championships.
The Houheikyou Dam in Hokkaido was shot with a Sony Action Cam each installed on two RC helicopters. Professional operators flew the helicopters simultaneously, capturing dramatic images of water splash (discharged) from the dam at a speed of two tons/second, as well as the entirety of the immense, over 100-meter-wide dam itself.

Casey Brown & Poppy the Dog: Tail Gunner || Sony Action Cam
To capture never-before-seen action images, Sony has established the project team “The Action Duck Project Team”.
Using Action Ducks, the totally new combination of Action Cams and Rubber Ducks mounted on RC cars, they tried to get to the animals as close as they can.
This movie is full of surprising reactions from tiny mice to giant white tigers, all taken by these Action Ducks.

Steve Smith strapped on his CONTOUR and took what he called a “mellow” run down the Val d’Isere course. Steve has a bit of a crash about half way down the course but gets up quick. At the end he says the course is changing very quickly.
Should make for interesting race conditions come Sunday.
